Versant Health Optical Lab Awarded ISO Certification

LINTHICUM, MD, October 24, 2018 – Versant Health, a leading national managed eye health and vision plan company, announces that it has received the ISO 9001:2015 International Quality Standard certification for its lab in Newtown Square, PA.

The ISO 9001:2015 International Quality Standard certification applies to the processing of eyeglass lenses and the finished eyeglasses themselves. It is a three-year certification and acknowledges the quality management system standards and requirements of the Versant Health optical lab.
“We are very proud of this certification,” says Jobany (Gio) Garces, Manufacturing Lab Director. “We were first certified back in 2000, and today we continue to be one of a few companies in the optical industry that have earned this certification.”

Being ISO certified means that the Versant Health optical lab will have to document all policies and procedures, and have an outside company verify it. Due in part to this level of oversight, many government programs require ISO 9001 certification, yet very few labs provide it.

“This certification is just one example of our commitment to excellence and service,” says Kirk Rothrock, CEO, Versant Health. “By manufacturing glasses for our members right in our own lab, we are able to keep costs low while still ensuring the highest quality.”
